When does the 2025-26 season start for Real Madrid?
Even ahead of their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Real Madrid had proposed postponing their opening fixture of La Liga 2025-26 against Osasuna from August 19 to October 29.
However, the club's request has been reportedly turned down by La Liga, refuting claims of any agreement in case the Madrid-based teams reach the final phase of the Club World Cup.
In due course, Real Madrid will start their new Champions League campaign in September; with the first Clasico of the season against Barcelona taking place in October – in line with recent history.
Madrid will enter Copa del Rey in the round of 32, as they qualified for the 2026 Spanish Super Cup, while the Champions League league phase draw will be held on August 28.
